Yang Yi was fascinating and surprising. She gave an extraordinarily beautiful performance on the Zheng (a 21- stringed zither).
New York Times - Mar.13, 1995

This is a well sounding music full of melodies. The audience liked it very much and celebrated it with "Bravos". Under the direction of conductor George Hanson, the world-renowned soloist Yi Yang and the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra presented an extraordinary nuanced, intensive and passionate performance.
West German News - Jan.22, 2004

Yi Yang is like the Mick Jagger of the zither. She really sets the instrument on fire.
Daily Record - Mar.10, 1996

Among the groups scheduled to perform, Yang Yi will be one of the featured performers at "A Global String"..... American-Chinese musician Yang Yi is a virtuoso on the guzheng, or 21-string zither. She has toured Asia, Europe and the United States, appearing with major national Chinese music group.
The Times - July 21, 2006

If a performance by a virtuoso of the ancient Chinese instrument called the guzheng doesn't grab you, how's this: She's been called the Mick Jagger of the zither, and we think that's a real compliment.
Star-Ledger - Nov. 26, 2005

Think of a Chinese performance for string devotees along the lines of American favorites "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" and "Dueling Banjos", and you have two of China's most celebrated musicians. Except, these popular artists played patriotic Chinese songs such as "General's Command" and "Su Wu," which means "Missed Homeland", for a crowd of about 200 people at Monmouth Country Library Headquarters in Manalapan on Saturday. Wu Man, plays the pipa, a four-string Chinese lute. Yang Yi, plays the guzheng, a 21-string Chinese zither, or table harp.
Asbury Park - 12/1/2005

Besides the varied, sophisticated techniques; pure Chinese national style; and the beautiful, clear timbre, Yang, Yi also has her unique understanding and expression of the music.
New Creation Connection - Dec. 17, 1993

Yang, Yi's performance was extremely wonderful. After hearing her performance, you would be lost in thought, and think about the poem.....
China Weekly News - May 28, 1993
