Academy Events
6/7/2008 – "Love and Hope" - Fundraising Concert for victims of the devastating Earthquake in China Presented by Yang Yi Guzheng Academy, performers include guzheng master, Yang Yi, an internationally-acclaimed virtuoso, a master Violinist from Sichuan, Ping Dezheng, and award-winning students from Yang Yi Guzheng Academy. Various award-winning ensemble and solo pieces were performed at the concert to show our unity to support the relief effort. "Love and Hope" were not only the theme of the music at the concert but also the palpable sentiment of the evening. Approximatlely 250 attended the concert. Attendees donated total of $15,398 at the concert. All donations have been transfered to American Red Cross and Chinese Conlulate General to provide immediate relief, as well as the long-term rebuilding effort to the disaster areas. Click here for more concert info.: Concert At-A-Glance / Flyer 5/16/2006 - "Concert in Memory of Prof. Qiu Dacheng" Yang Yi Guzheng Academy successfully presented the "Concert in Memory of Prof. Qiu Dacheng" at Bristol Chapel of Westminster Conservatory, Princeton, NJ on 5/16/2006. 4 Chinese master musicians Yang Yi, Chen Yi-Han, Li Li-qun, Ping De-zheng as well as 26 students from Yang Yi Guzheng Academy played at the full-house concert. It was very well received by the audiences. The foreword by Yang Yi stated the importance of the concert: "Today’s concert is not only a way of showing my appreciation to my mentor - Prof. Qiu; and not only to praise his successful teaching record for developing the talent of so many of today’s most promising guzheng virtuosos; but also to commemorate his lifelong commitment to promoting Chinese Guzheng music education." 11/26/2009 – Circlefriend Adult Medical Daycare Center. 90-min. guzheng solo, duet, ensemble concert was presented by the Circlefriend Adult Daycare Center. Hundreds of seniors enjoyed the award-winning students' performance on the Thanksgiving Day. 10/10/2009 – Princeton University. Invited by the World Assoc. of Distinguished Citizens and Princeton University Chinese Student Association, Yang Yi Guzheng Academy Youth Ensemble performed at a benefit concert in Princeton University featuring many talents from Princeton University, as well as outstanding Youth talents from the surrounding schools. 9/26/2009 – “The 4th New Jersey Statewide Culture Festival ”, a statewide event hosted by NJ Governor Jon S. Corzine and Secretary of State Nina Wells, showcasing NJ state’s incredible ethnic and cultural diversity, which has become a favorite of thousands of festival goers. 9/19/2009 – "Monmouth Chinese Christian Church" invited Yang Yi Guzheng Ensemble to perform at their “Taiwan 88 Floor Relief Benefit Concert" in Middle town, NJ. 5/16/2009 – “Families with Children from China”, a nationwide organization's "Asian Pacific Heritage Month Celebration" program featured YYGA's student ensemble, which include Jennifer Zhang, Duan-Li Lin, Victoria Wang, Diana Sun, Queenie Qiu and Michelle Wang. 11/30/2008 – Re-election Fundraising Gala for West Windsor Township mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh featured YYGA award-winning student ensemble, which include Diana Sun, Victoria Wang, Hannah Jin, Queenie Qiu, Michelle Wang, Duan-Li Lin, Cynthia Xu, Sarah Tang and Jennifer Zhang. 6/1/2008 – 20+ New Jersey Chinese community organizations's “We United - Fundraising Gala for the China Earthquake Victim" concert program featured YYGA award-winning student ensemble, which include Amy Han, Carmen Chan, Sarah Tang, Queenie Qiu, Michelle Wang, Cynthia Xu, Sun Jie and Ze Zhou. 5/31/2008 – China Chamber of Commerce in USA and American United Chamber of Commerce's “Hai Hang Night" - Sichuan Earthquake Recovery Fundraising Concert featured YYGA award-winning student Carmen Chan. 5/26/2008 – Plainsboro Township and Plainsboro Chinese School 's Fundraising Performance for China Earthquake Relief at Marice Hawk Elementary School in West Windsor, NJ featured YYGA's award-winning student Hannah Jin. 1/20/2008 - Central Jersey Chinese Assoc. & Hua-Xia Plainsboro Chinese School's Chinese New Year Celebration Gala featured Yang Yi guzheng solo performance and YYGA student ensemble by Carmen Chan and Hannah Jin. 6/9/2007 – “Families with Children from China”, a nationwide organization's "Culture Day" program featured YYGA's student ensemble, which include Hannah Jin, Queenie Qiu, Michelle Wang, Jie Sun, Cynthia Xu. 5/20/2007 - Somerset County Asian-American Heritage Commission’s “Asian-American Heritage Month Celebration” program featured YYGA student ensemble, which include Amy Han, Carmen Chan, Sarah Tang, Hannah Jin, Queenie Qiu, Michelle Wang, Jie Sun and Cynthia Xu. 7/22/2006 – West Windsor Arts Council's "West Windsor Music Festival - A Global String Thing" program presented a 60-min. Yang Yi guzheng solo performance program, which also featured a 15-member YYGA student ensemble. 2/10/2006 - Asian Culture Center's “Moon Festival” Celebration Gala featured YYGA student ensemble, which include Amy Han, Carmen Chan, Sarah Tang, and Hannah Jin . 1/29/2006 - Hua Xia - Plainsboro Chinese School's Chinese New Year Celebration Gala featured YYGA student ensemble, which include Amy Han, Carmen Chan, Sarah Tang, Hannah Jin and Celina Jin. 5/14/2005 - “Families with Children from China”, a nationwide organization's "Culture Day" program featured YYGA's student ensemble, which include Alissa Hui, Amy Han, Alexandra Cheng, Carmen Chan, Celina Shang, Eric Jung, Hannah Jin, Queenie Qiu and Sarah Tang. 12/04/2004 – Plainsboro Township Recreation Department's “TRADITIONS – INTERNATIONAL SHOWCASE” event featured Yang Yi and her 10 student ensemble at its performance event. 5/23/2004 - Somerset County Asian-American Heritage Commission’s “Asian-American Heritage Month Celebration” concert program featured Yang Yi and her 20 student ensemble at Raritan Valley Community College' Edward Nash Theatre. 5/16/2004 – New Jersey State Asian Culture & Heritage Commission's “Asian Pacific Heritage Month” Celebration Gala featured Yang Yi and her 15 student ensemble at its performance event. |
