Yang Yi GuZheng Academy presented the "Love and Hope" - Fundraising concert for the China Earthquake Victims on June 7, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck in West Windsor, NJ. Approximatlely 250 people attended. Over $15,000 donation was raised.



Being the first and the only Chinese instrument competition organized by the American Mainstream music organization - NJMTA (an affiliation of National Music Teacher Assoc., the world's largest music teacher assoc.), under the direction of chairperson Yang Yi, the 2007 Young Musicians Competition on Chinese instruments was held on Nov. 4 at Westminster Conservatory (Princeton, NJ). 1st place winner recital on piano, string, woodwind and Chinese instruments were presented at NJMTA 2007 Conference at Bristol Chapel on Nov. 16 & Nov. 18 (including  Four 1st place Chinese instrument winners from varies age group). Led by chairperson Yang Yi,, the 2007 CCTV (Chinese National TV Station) Chinese Instrument TV Competition  US Eastern Regional Competition was finished with a big success. 52 finalists from 6 surrounding states competed at the final competition on Oct. 13 in New Jersey. 21 winners were selected to compete in Beijing.  Instrumentalised by Yang Yi,  for the first time in history, NJMTA,, an affiliate of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), included Guzheng into its annual programs. 2007 Spring Recital Audition was finished with big success. The winners concert was held at the Gill Memorial Chapel in Rider University on May 19, 2007.  22 students range from age of 8 to 53 received High Honor or Honor award certificates.






On June 9, 2007, invited by "Families with Chinese Children", the organization dedicated in helping families with adoped Chinese Children to learn about China and Chinese culture,
6 student performers from  Yang Yi Guzheng Academy performed 45-minutes guzheng solo and ensemble pieces at the organization's annual Culture Day program..






On May 20, 2007, invited by Somerset Culture & Heritage Commission,  9 teenage student performers from Yang Yi Guzheng Academy performed 10-minutes guzheng ensemble pieces at its Asian-American Heritage Celebration concert.












Yang Yi Guzheng Academy recently successfully presented the "Concert in Memory of Prof. Qiu Dacheng" at Westminster Conservatory, Princeton, NJ

6/7/2008 – "Love and Hope" - Fundraising Concert for victims of the devastating Earthquake in China

Presented by Yang Yi Guzheng Academy, performers include guzheng master, Yang Yi, an internationally-acclaimed virtuoso, a master Violinist from Sichuan, Ping Dezheng, and award-winning students from Yang Yi Guzheng Academy. Various award-winning ensemble and solo pieces were performed at the concert to show our unity to support the relief effort.

"Love and Hope" were not only the theme of the music at the concert but also the palpable sentiment of the evening. Only 100 or 150 people were expected to attend the concert. It is estimated that approximatlely 250 attended. Donations were expected to total $3,000 - $5,000. Over $15,000 was raised ($15398 as of now). All donations have been transfered to American Red Cross and Chinese Conlulate General to provide immediate relief, as well as the long-term rebuilding effort to the disaster areas.

5/16/2006 - "Concert in Memory of Prof. Qiu Dacheng"

Yang Yi Guzheng Academy successfully presented the "Concert in Memory of Prof. Qiu Dacheng" at Bristol Chapel of Westminster Conservatory, Princeton, NJ on 5/16/2006. 4 Chinese master musicians Yang Yi, Chen Yi-Han, Li Li-qun, Ping De-zheng as well as 26 students from Yang Yi Guzheng Academy played at the full-house concert. It was very well received by the audiences.

The foreword by Yang Yi stated the importance of the concert: "Today’s concert is not only a way of showing my appreciation to my mentor - Prof. Qiu; and not only to praise his successful teaching record for developing the talent of so many of today’s most promising guzheng virtuosos; but also to commemorate his lifelong commitment to promoting Chinese Guzheng music education."

Yang Yi Guzheng Academy award-winning students participated the fundraising Gala at Edison High School, presented by 20+ New Jersey Chinese community organizations to raise funds for the China Earthquake Victims.


5/31/2008 – “Hai Hang Night" Sichuan Earthquake Recovery Concert

Yang Yi Guzheng Academy award-winning students participated the fundraising concert hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce in USA and American United Chamber of Commerce to raise funds for the China 5.12 Earthquake Victims.


5/26/2008 – Fundraising Performance for China Earthquake Relief at Marice Hawk Elementary School in West Windsor, NJ

Yang Yi Guzheng Academy student Hannah Jin performed solo song at the fundraising concert which is sponsored by Plainsboro Chinese School (PCS) and Plainsboro Township.

1/20/2008 - Chinese New Year Celebration by Central Jersey Chinese Assoc. & Plainsboro Chinese School . After teacher Yang's solo, Carmen Chan, Hannah Jin and Zizhu band joined her for ensemble.
